Precast-Prestressed T-Slab

The precast prestressed T-slabs are used for a car parking due to very long span up to 18m. The T-slabs are provided with pre-stressing strands, typically 15.7mm in diameter and are stressed at factory prior to delivery to site. Double T-slabs are one of the most efficient floor systems for long spans due to low weight over carrying-capacity ratio. The scope of the project included review of the structural design of the T-slabs which carried out by a precast specialist.

Several improvements were recommended such as the detailing of reinforcement around the web openings and addition of reinforcement within the development length of the pre-tensioning strands near supports. In addition, it was recommended to increase the pre-stressing to some T-slabs to avoid cracked sections below the web openings.
